World Book Day<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

This term we celebrated World Book Day, one of my favourite days if the year! The children either came dressed up as their favourite book character or had their face painted by Miss Ingle and Mrs Ingle. There was much excitement throughout school. The children loved finding Golden tickets throughout the week, some were even lucky to find one in their reading diary or locker! Each of these children received a new book.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

During the day, our classes celebrated our love for reading through different ways. Dahl class went \u2018On a Bear Hunt\u2019 They found out lots of facts about Michael Rosen and even saw him live on a webinar earlier in the week! It was very special because he gave St Bart\u2019s a big shout out! Dahl then performed the story through music during collective worship.\u00a0<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Nightingale found that the crayons had QUIT when they came into school that morning. They had a mission to find the missing crayons which was very exciting! There was a fabulous buzz all day. Their poem about the Crayons quitting was just wonderful to see and hear during collective worship.<\/p>

Darwin looked at the book ‘The Wild Robot’ by Peter Brown. They started by reading different chapters from the book and getting introduced to the main characters. It helped that Miss Jayne was dressed as the main robot, Roz. Later, they wrote poems about a robot that lands on a deserted island and how they can survive. They then designed and created from junk modelling, their own robots with a special skill like being very helpful, being able to jump very high, having laser eyes and super hearing.\u00a0Their performance in the hall was a lovely end to the day.\u00a0<\/p>

Franklin Class performed a spoken word piece based on the poem Windrush Child by John Agard, introducing themes from The Windrush Child by Benjamin Zephaniah, which they are studying in English. Through rhythm and poetry, they told the story of the Windrush journey\u2014from a vibrant tropical homeland across the sea to the cold streets of Britain\u2014carrying hope for a new future.<\/p>

Thank you to everyone that guessed the Masked Reader on Facebook. This was great fun! Thank you to all the staff who took time to record themself reading a passage from a book.<\/p>
