Sport is the Way!

At St Bartholomew's we are keen to engage our pupils in high quality physical education so provide every child with 2 hours per week of PE. In addition we wish to encourage the children to adopt healthy lifestyles, part of this includes engaging in physical activity for fun. To achieve this we offer a wide range of extra curriculum sports clubs, at lunch time and after school, including multi-skills, 'Change for Life', football and teakwondo - to name but a few.

We also take part in the Sainsbury's School Games initiative which aims to provide a unique opportunity to motivate and inspire millions of young people across the country to take part in more competitive school sport.

Working with our local sports partnership we offer our pupils the opportunity to take part in three levels of activity: competition in schools, between schools, and at a county/area level:

Intra-school (Level 1) - sporting competition for all students in school through intra-school competition

Inter-school (Level 2) - individuals and teams are selected to represent their schools in local inter-school competitions

Sainsbury's School Games Festivals (Level 3) – the county/area will stage multi-sport Sainsbury's School Games Festivals as a culmination of year-round school sport competition.

OUR VIRTUAL SPORTS WEEK

Sports Day is one of our all-time favourite events in our school calendar and we couldn’t let a little thing like a global pandemic stop us celebrating together. However, we must ensure that we are all safe and responsible, so this year we are going online.

On Monday 13th July, we will begin our Virtual Sports Challenge Week with an Opening Ceremony. We have designed the Sports Events to ensure that every member of our school community can get involved and participate whether that be a home or in school. You must share your participation if you would to receive a Sports Award: post a photograph or video on Twitter and tag your class page, post a photograph or video on Tapestry (Rec and Year 1) or send a short video or photograph to the Homework Email Address: homework@stbartholomews.lincs.sch.uk. The more activities you send in the more points you will get for your team and the higher Sports Award you will receive but, as one of our national supermarket says, every little helps, so even if you are only able to send in one activity, it is still worth taking part.

Please click the link below to see the different challenges demonstrated.
