Meet Our School Council

At St Bartholomew’s Primary School, we believe it is important for pupils to take ownership of their learning and have greater roles in school decision-making. We provide many opportunities for children to play a role in making the decisions that affect them. We recognise that pupils have logical perspectives and opinions on issues that matter in the classroom, in school and in the community. We give pupils an active role in influencing decisions about these issues, as well as in the implementation of these decisions. We encourage pupils to participate as active young citizens.

Our School Council is made up of elected representatives of pupils, from EYFS through to Year 6. The children elect a representative for each year group by holding a ballot during the Autumn Term. The School Council meet to discuss matters put forward to them by their peers. The School Council also organise events to raise money for various charities. In the past we have raised money for many different causes, including BBC Children in Need, Comic Relief, Air Ambulance, Books for Africa Scheme, Sport Relief and the Poppy Appeal.
